Duluth, GA — The Atlanta Gladiators continued their strong stretch of play on Monday afternoon, earning a hard-fought 2–1 victory over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at Gas South Arena during the club’s Sensor Friendly Game. Behind a two-goal performance from Alex Young and a disciplined defensive effort, the Gladiators closed out another important home win.
Atlanta jumped out to an early advantage when Young opened the scoring just 1:22 into the game, finishing a quick passing sequence set up by Cody Sylvester and Isak Walther. The Gladiators maintained offensive pressure throughout the period, but Greenville answered late, tying the game at 1–1 with under a minute remaining before the intermission.
The second period featured a fast pace and physical play from both sides, with scoring chances generated at each end of the ice. Strong goaltending kept the game deadlocked until the final seconds, when Young struck again, this time unleashing a perfectly timed slap shot off of a set play following a Greenville icing with 3.5 seconds left to give the Gladiators a 2–1 lead heading into the third.
Greenville came out aggressive in the final period, pushing hard for the equalizer, but Atlanta’s defense held firm. The Gladiators created quality chances of their own while limiting second opportunities, and with a late shot ringing off the post for Greenville, the home side remained composed through the final horn.
With the 2–1 victory secured, the Gladiators wrapped up another successful showing at Gas South Arena and now turn their attention to a key divisional road trip, looking to carry their momentum away from home.
