The Gwinnett Gladiators announced the completion of their six outstanding future consideration trades on Monday. All but one of the deals originally took place during the week of March 9th, leading up to the ECHL’s Trade Deadline during the afternoon of March 12th. The rights to Defenseman Matt Register and Forward Todd Fiddler were acquired from the Ontario Reign to complete the Garry Nunn trade back from March 11th. Register, who just wrapped up his third season with the Reign, was named to the All-ECHL First Team in 2015. The Alberta native was also named to the All-ECHL First Team in 2014 and received ECHL Defenseman of the Year honors that same season. Fiddler spent the bulk of the 14-15 season with the Quad City Mallards, scoring 13 goals and 14 assists in 50 games, before being traded to Ontario in early March. The Gladiators also received Defenseman Ryan Hegarty and Forward Thomas Frazee’s rights from the Greenville Road Warriors to complete a trade that saw forward Scott Arnold come to Gwinnett earlier this year, in exchange for forward Anthony Luciani. Hegarty spent the past two seasons with Greenville, appearing in 68 games last year as an Assistant Captain and amassing 34 points off of 10 goals and 24 assists. Frazee scored 41 points in 70 games played in 14-15.To complete a trade with Florida that sent Casey Pierro-Zabotel to the Everblades in exchange for forwards Jeff Silengo and Jason Wilson, the Gladiators also receive the rights to forward Alex Lavoie. The Anjou, Quebec native appeared in 67 games for Florida, notching 21 goals and 36 assists for 57 points. Lavoie registered his 100th career point on January 13th in Greenville. In exchange for goaltender Mark Guggenberger, Gwinnett receives the rights to defenseman Ian Barteaux from the Fort Wayne Komets. After completing five seasons with the University of Alberta Golden Bears, where he won the CIS National Championship in his senior year, Barteaux joined the Komets for his rookie campaign in 14-15 collecting 69 penalty minutes in 47 games to go along with a +3 plus/minus rating. Defenseman Jacob Johnston’s rights have been acquired from the Utah Grizzlies to complete the March 9th Brendan Walker trade. Johnston played in ten games with the Greenville Road Warriors in 14-15 before joining Utah for 59 match-ups, amassing 40 points over the course of his 69 games played. Finally, to complete a February 6th trade that sent Anthony Perdicaro to the Wichita Thunder, the Gladiators receive the rights to Eric Meland. The defenseman appeared in 61 games with the Thunder this past season, scoring seven goals and 29 assists for 36 points. Gladiators Head Coach Andy Brandt said of the transactions, These assets we’ve acquired are the end result of our major roster overhaul from March. We’re looking forward to incorporating these players into our plans for the upcoming season, and hope to see a direct impact from the transactions we’ve made.
