Duluth, GA - The Atlanta Gladiators, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Nashville Predators and the American Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals, announced on Tuesday via the team’s YouTube channel that the team has signed defenseman Ryan Conroy for the 2026-27 season.
Conroy, 25, is entering his second season with the Gladiators after finishing the 2025-26 campaign with 5 goals and 12 assists for 17 points and a +6 rating in 67 games. In 6 games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs, Conroy notched 1 goal and 1 assist. In addition to being one of Atlanta’s most consistent defenders, Conroy was named to the Gladiators’ leadership group as an alternate captain midway through the season.
The 5’9” 185-pound defenseman was acquired by the Gladiators in a trade with the Adirondack Thunder following the 2024-25 season, in which he scored 8 goals and 21 assists for 29 points in 71 games to lead all Thunder defensemen in points.
The native of Chestermere, AB, joined the Thunder toward the end of the 2023-24 season, scoring 1 goal and 1 assist in 9 regular season games and 3 assists in 9 playoff games in his first taste of professional hockey. Prior to his time in Adirondack, Conroy spent three seasons playing NCAA Division I hockey at Yale University, scoring 3 goals and 19 assists in 91 games with the Bulldogs from 2021-2024.
“Connie is a warrior. His attitude and compete are contagious and he is one of those guys that drags others into the fight,” said Gladiators’ Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations, Matt Ginn. He continued to say, “Connie was a big part of our team on and off the ice with his play and his leadership. He is someone who played a lot of minutes in all situations and will do whatever it takes to win. We’re thrilled to have Conny back this season.”
