DULUTH, GA – The Providence Bruins of the AHL re-assigned two forwards to Atlanta in Samuel Asselin and Scott Conway. Both players held key roles in the Glads’ offense early in the season and will bolster the unit upon return.
Asselin was a balanced offensive weapon in his nine games with Atlanta to start the season. At the time of his departure, he was second among ECHL rookies and tied for fifth overall in the league with 13 points, while his seven goals and seven assists, were tied for third among first-year players.
Sam was also named the Inglasco ECHL Player of the Week, while with the Glads for the week of October 28 through November 3, after scoring five goals and added three assists for eight points in the Gladiators’ two wins that week. Upon the productive start, he was recalled to the AHL and gathered three assists over five games with the Providence Bruins.
Conway earned his first promotion to the AHL with the Providence Bruins after just five games with the Gladiators to start the campaign. While with the Glads he ripped off seven goals in that time, including a hat trick against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in just his second game as a pro on October 19. Conway is also still currently on a five-game goal streak. He returned to Providence, this time as a pro, after spending three years playing for Providence College. He hit the ice in 11 games for the Providence Bruins, totaling four points on three goals and an assist.
The two will fill the spots left from goaltender Dan Vladar being recalled to Providence and defenseman Jake Flegel being placed back on injured reserve.
