The Atlanta Gladiators Partner with DeKalb County School District

DULUTH, GA - The Atlanta Gladiators kicked off their newly established partnership with the DeKalb County School District participating in their annual "ONE DeKalb" Back-To-School Rally at the Robert R. Freeman Administrative and Instructional Complex in Stone Mountain. The event welcomed new and returning families to the community as they celebrated the start of the school year. Over 1,000 families attended the event at no cost to receive various resources necessary to prepare for the 2019-2020 school year, which kicks off on August 5.

There were over 70 vendors from the local community providing haircuts, refreshments, health screenings, immunizations, physicals, employment and housing opportunities, and supplies to the attendees. The Atlanta Gladiators volunteered at the event and provided backpacks and school supplies via the Atlanta Gladiators Foundation. Local students gave introductions to various sporting activities and clubs within DeKalb County Schools. Additionally, recreational teams, spirit squads, and marching bands from several high schools including Redan, Southwest DeKalb, Columbia, and Stone Mountain provided live entertainment to get families hype for the upcoming school year. 

The Gladiators would like to thank Narva Dunlap (District Family Engagement Specialist II), Alvin Glymph (Director of Grants and Partnerships), and the DeKalb County School District for their collaboration and hard work as we continue to impact the metro Atlanta community. This event serves as the first of many between the Atlanta Gladiators and the DeKalb County School District this season.
