DULUTH, Ga. – The Atlanta Gladiators announced on Monday that they have traded cash considerations to the Adirondack Thunder for forward Shane Eiserman and goalie Colten Phinney.
Eiserman, 23, began his rookie season this year in Adirondack where he posted three points (1g, 2a) in two games for the Thunder. The Newburyport, MA native skated the last four seasons for the University of New Hampshire. The 6-foot-2, 201-pound forward notched 51 points in 125 career games with the Wildcats. The former fourth-round draft pick (100th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators has represented the United States in various international competitions including the U18 World Junior Championships and with US National Development Program.
Phinney, 25, started off the 2018-19 season with a 4-1-0-0 record and 2.95 goals-against average with Adirondack. The Chatham, NJ native also appeared in one game for the AHL’s Binghamton Devils this season. During the 2017-18 campaign, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound netminder split time between the Jacksonville Icemen and Indy Fuel as well as one game for the AHL’s Manitoba Moose. Phinney played four full seasons at Princeton University prior to the start of his pro career including one year alongside current Atlanta goalie, Sean Bonar.
The Gladiators have also announced they have released forwards Andrew Schmit and Luke Sandler along with goalie Ian Sylves from their contracts.
