DULUTH, Ga. – The Atlanta Gladiators announced Thursday that they have signed forward Louick Marcotte to a standard professional contract.
“Louick had a tremendous Major-Junior career, and I feel that in the right situation he will thrive and become one of the league’s elite forwards,” said Head Coach and General Manager of Hockey Operations Jeff Pyle. “He is a hard-working guy with skill and a great shot. If he shoots the puck, plays in both ends and does things the right way, like I expect from him and everyone else, he will be a force to be reckoned with this season.”
Marcotte, 24, (pronounced MARR-cott) registered 33 points (14g, 18a) and a plus-six rating in 48 ECHL games for Wichita, Fort Wayne and Wheeling last season. The Longueuill, PQ native set a career highs in goals (18), assists (20) and points (38) in 62 games with the Wichita Thunder during his sophomore campaign in 2016-17. The 6-foot-1, 201-pound forward accumulated 29 points (16g, 13a) in 57 games his rookie season for the Adirondack Thunder. Overall the fourth-year pro has notched 100 career ECHL points (48g, 52a) in 167 contests.
Prior to the start of his pro career, Marcotte earned 255 points (119g, 136a) in 277 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) for Gatineau, Val-d’Or and Prince Edward Island. His best QMJHL season came in 2013-14 when the winger posted 100 points and 42 goals in 67 games for the Val-d’Or Foreurs en route to the team appearing in the Memorial Cup Finals.
“We want him to come in to Atlanta and feel right at home right away,” said Pyle. “His numbers speak for themselves, and if he buys in to our overall team mission, he will be a huge catalyst of this team’s success.”
