DULUTH, Ga. – The Atlanta Gladiators announced Tuesday that goaltender Ed Minney has agreed to terms with the team.
“He’s a good kid who can develop into a good pro,” said Head Coach and General Manager of Hockey Operations Jeff Pyle. “Minney is a large goalie with a good pedigree and a good background. He just needs an opportunity.”
Minney, 22, appeared in one game for the ECHL’s Indy Fuel at the end of the 2017-18 season after completing a three-year stint at the NCAA’s Michigan State University. The 6-foot-5, 208-pound goalie played 38 games for the Spartans from 2015-2018. The Wind Gap, PA native defended the net for the U.S. National Development Team of the USHL and posted a goals-against average of 2.63 and .905 save percentage in 2013-14. In 38 games played for the U18 U.S. National Team that same season, the rookie goalie earned a GAA of 2.63 and .900 save percentage.
