Pond Returns from Providence, Pinkston Recalled to Milwaukee

DULUTH, Ga. – The Atlanta Gladiators announced Tuesday that forward Tanner Pond has been released from his PTO with the AHL’s Providence Bruins and returns to the team while the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL have recalled defenseman Rick Pinkston.

Pond, 24, returns to the Gladiators after he skated in two games with the P-Bruins this past weekend. In 61 games for the Gladiators during his rookie campaign, the 6-foot, 194-pound center collected 37 points (14-23-37) which tied for third on the team while his 163 penalty minutes and eight fighting majors ranked second.

Pinkston, 27, heads to Milwaukee for the second time this season. The Trenton, MI native has yet to see action in the AHL this season after appearing in 20 games last year for the Admirals where he earned two assists and a plus-three rating. The third-year pro registered 11 points (2-9-11) and a plus-five rating for the Gladiators in 41 games this season.

Pinkston will be with the Admirals for the remainder of the AHL regular season but is expected to return to the Gladiators in time for game one of the South Division Semifinals on Monday, April 16th in Estero, FL.

The South Division Semifinals of the 2018 Kelly Cup Playoffs shifts to the Infinite Energy Arena for game three of the best-of-seven series on Thursday, April 19th against the Florida Everblades at 7:35 PM. For ticket information, visit the official team website at www.atlantagladiators.com or call the main office line at 770-497-5100.

The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the nation’s premier "AA" hockey league. All home games are played at the 10,867-seat Infinite Energy Arena, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth – where parking is always free. The Gladiators have established an unrivaled commitment to excellence, maintaining a distinctive reputation for affordable and family-friendly sports entertainment and consistently ranked as one of the top “Things To Do” in the Atlanta area and across the North Georgia region.
