Glads Ink Two Forwards from Macon

The Atlanta Gladiators announced Wednesday that they have signed forwards Stephen Pierog and John Siemer from the SPHL’s Macon Mayhem.

Pierog (pronounced PEER-ogg), 23, returns to Atlanta after playing in one game for the Gladiators this season back on December 12th. The Guelph, ON native has registered 19 points (7-12-19) in 20 games for the SPHL’s Macon Mayhem this year. The third-year pro notched 41 points (12-29-41) in 52 games last season for Macon in addition to four goals in seven playoff games helping the Mayhem capture the SPHL Championship. Prior to the start of his professional career, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward earned 117 points (56-61-117) in 263 games in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the Peterborough Petes, Guelph Storm and Sarnia Sting.

Siemer, 25, skated in training camp for the Gladiators and appeared in both preseason contests at the beginning of this year. So far during the 2017-18 campaign, the Baldwin Park, CA native has amassed 16 points (6-10-16) in 20 games for the Mayhem. The second-year pro was also a member of Macon’s 2016-17 SPHL Championship team managing 45 points (17-28-45) in 48 regular season games and six points (1-5-6) in seven playoff contests. The 5-foot-9, 174-pound forward saw time in the ECHL last season for a total of 10 games with Quad City, Greenville and Wheeling notching one assist. Prior to turning pro, Siemer played three full seasons for Northern Michigan University scoring 43 points (16-27-43) in 85 career games for the Wildcats.
