Phil Lane has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for November, 6-12.
Lane scored four goals and added two assists for six points helping the Gladiators to a 3-0-0 record last week. The 25-year-old notched four points (2-2-4) in a 5-4 win at Norfolk on Wednesday, picked up the game-tying goal with :28 seconds left in regulation in a 3-2 overtime win at South Carolina on Friday and notched the game-winning goal in OT of a 2-1 win against the Stingrays on Saturday. The native of Rochester, NY is tied for fourth in the ECHL with nine goals and his 15 points are tied for eighth. The fifth-year pro is also currently on a nine-game point streak (8-6-14) and six-game road goal streak with eight total goals in that span.
Selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Lane has tallied 31 points (12-19-31) in 38 career ECHL games with Atlanta and Adirondack while adding 48 points (26-22-48) in 218 career American Hockey League games with Springfield and Portland. Prior to turning pro, Lane recorded 107 points (50-57-107) in 171 career games with Brampton of the Ontario Hockey League.
On behalf of Phil Lane, a case of pucks will be donated to an Atlanta youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 37,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
