Goalie Bonar Returns to Atlanta

The Atlanta Gladiators announced Monday that they have signed goaltender Sean Bonar to a standard professional contract.

Bonar, 26, has made one start for the Gladiators this season where he made 34 saves in a 4-2 victory over the Kansas City Mavericks on November 4th. In addition to his short stint with Atlanta this year, the former netminder at Princeton University is undefeated in four starts with the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the SPHL. The Delta, BC native is 4-0 with a goal-against-average of 1.25 and 0.959 save percentage with the Ice Flyers which includes back-to-back shutouts in his first two starts on the season. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound goalie backstopped the Fayetteville FireAntz of the SPHL last season with a record of 32-15-2, a 2.07 goals-against average and .927 save percentage while being named the SPHL’s Most Valuable Player. During the fourth-year pro’s outstanding season in 2016-17, Bonar set the all-time SPHL record for wins in a season (32) and minutes played (2,956).
