Gladiators Sign Top SPHL Goalie Bonar

The Atlanta Gladiators announced Thursday that they have signed goaltender Sean Bonar to a standard professional contract.

Bonar, 26, comes to Atlanta from the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the SPHL where he has yet to allow a goal this season. In two starts for the Ice Flyers, the Delta, BC native has back-to-back shutouts making 24 saves in a 2-0 win over Mississippi and 36 stops Pensacola’s 4-0 victory in Macon. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound goalie backstopped the Fayetteville FireAntz of the SPHL last season with a record of 32-15-2, a 2.07 goals-against average and .927 save percentage while being named the SPHL’s Most Valuable Player. During the fourth-year pro’s outstanding season in 2016-17, Bonar set the all-time SPHL record for wins in a season (32) and minutes played (2,956). The former netminder at Princeton University has 22 career appearances in the ECHL for Indy, Orlando, Brampton, Fort Wayne and Wichita over the course of the last three seasons.

The Atlanta Gladiators 15th anniversary season continues at the Infinite Energy Arena on Friday, November 3rd against the Kansas City Mavericks at 7:35 PM. For ticket package information, visit the official team website at www.atlantagladiators.com or call the main office line at 770-497-5100.
