Gladiators Ink Experienced Defender Lannon

The Atlanta Gladiators announced Tuesday that they have signed defenseman Ryan Lannon to a standard professional contract.

Lannon, 34, comes to Atlanta with 410 games of professional hockey experience. The Grafton, MA native has spent the majority of his career in the AHL with 51 points in 318 games played with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, San Antonio, Houston, Lake Erie, and Worcester. The stay-at-home defender also compiled seven points in 43 games played in the Liiga, Finland’s top professional league. The former eighth round selection (239) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins took the last four seasons off before starting his comeback with the Worchester Railers of the ECHL playing in four games to begin this season. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound D-man skated four full seasons at Harvard University from 2001-2005. Lannon registered 38 points in 136 games for the Crimson and served as the team’s alternate captain during his senior campaign in 2004-05.

In a non-related transaction, forward Angelo Miceli has signed with HC Balzano of the Austrian League and has been released from his contract by the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL.

The Atlanta Gladiators 15th Anniversary season continues at the Infinite Energy Arena on Thursday, November 23rd against the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05 PM. For ticket information, visit the official team website at www.atlantagladiators.com or call the main office line at 770-497-5100.
