The Atlanta Gladiators have agreed to terms with forward Thomas Frazee for the 2017-18 season, the team announced Tuesday.
Frazee, 27, registered 39 points (19-20-39) in 60 games played last year in his second campaign with the Gladiators. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound forward earned stints in the AHL for the San Antonio Rampage on two separate occasions last season for a total of six games. Appearing in 71 contests with Atlanta in 2015-16, the North Vancouver, BC native notched 47 total points (16-31-47) which ranked second overall on the team.
“Coming back to Atlanta was an easy decision,” said Frazee. “Two years ago, Brando (former Head Coach Andy Brandt) gave me an opportunity to keep my career alive. He really developed me into a two-way player and I think I made the most of that chance and look to build upon it moving forward.”
In a total of 280 professional games, Frazee has amassed 179 career points (78-101-179) in the CHL, ECHL and AHL. The product of the Western Hockey League has one assist in nine career games in the AHL for San Antonio and the Charlotte Checkers. Earlier this off-season, Frazee signed his first full AHL contract inking a two-way deal with the Rampage. In signing this ECHL deal with the Gladiators, he remains property of the club and if sent to the ECHL will report to Atlanta.
“Obviously, my goal is to stay in the AHL, but I understand the process and feel very grateful for the opportunity to wear a Gladiator jersey again for another year,” added Frazee. “My goal when in Atlanta is simple, make the playoffs and contend for a championship. The community and tremendously loyal fan base who have supported us over the past few seasons deserve nothing less.”
