D'Amico and Reum Return to Gladiators

The Atlanta Gladiators announced Thursday the signing of forward Patrick D’Amico and defenseman Dalton Reum.

D’Amico, 22, returns to the Atlanta where he spent most of the 2015-16 season. The Winnipeg, MB native notched 20 points (13-7-20) in 50 games for the Gladiators after earning four points (2-2-4) in 17 games for the Colorado Eagles to start his professional career. An off-season trade sent the 6-foot, 201-pound forward to the Indy Fuel prior to last season. In 38 games in the Hoosier state, D’Amico managed 16 points (6-10-16). Prior to the start of his professional career, he collected 75 points (27-48-75) in 160 games for the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League (WHL). D’Amico set a career high in his final major junior season as he registered 50 points (20-30-50) in 72 games.

“I chose to come back to Atlanta after talking to Brando (former Head Coach Andy Brandt) and hearing the role and opportunity I have to succeed here, which made my decision pretty easy,” said D’Amico. Even though we have a new coach (Chuck Weber), that doesn't change anything. I have to come in, consistently play my game and earn the role I want to have.”

Reum, 25, re-signed with the Gladiators after competing in 44 games for Atlanta last season. The physical defenseman engineered eight points (1-7-8) and 74 penalty minutes during the 2016-17 campaign, his fourth season as a professional. During his 187-game career in the ECHL, the Camrose, AB native has amassed 30 points (6-24-30) and 307 penalty minutes for the Idaho Steelheads, Wichita Thunder and Gladiators. Before turning pro in 2012-13, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound defender gathered 37 points (8-29-37) in 212 games in the WHL for the Swift Current Broncos and Vancouver Giants.

“I’m very excited to put on a Gladiators uniform once again,” said Reum. “I’m ready and willing to sacrifice and do whatever it takes for my teammates and the fans to help this team regain success and return to the playoffs.”

In an unrelated transaction, Patrick McCadden has retired from professional hockey. The St. Charles, MO native has accepted the Assistant Coach position with the NCAA DIII’s Lawrence University. McCadden posted four points (1-3-4) and 45 penalty minutes for the Gladiators last season in 29 games played.

“I want to thank the Gladiators organization and fans for everything,” said McCadden. “Although I was excited for another season in Atlanta, I felt the time was right to move into the coaching ranks after receiving this offer that was hard to refuse. I’m honored to have been a part of such a classy organization and wish everyone with the Glads the best.”
