Atlanta was unable to score on Florida goalie, Anthony Peters and dropped the final game of the season in Estero, FL at Germain Arena against the Everblades by the score of 4-0 on Saturday evening.
Florida, just like the night prior, netted the game's opening tally. At the 3:34 mark of the first period, Mike Ferrantino collected a centering feed from behind the Atlanta goal from Everblade captain, Brant Harris. The Plymouth, MI native quickly wired the puck on net where it beat the Gladiators' goalie, Matt Ginn past the blocker and gave Florida the 1-0 lead.
The Everblades moved their lead to 2-0, 17:16 into the second period. After a ton of chances in the Gladiators' offensive end wouldn't go, Brendan O'Donnell skated up the middle of the slot and blasted a wrist shot past Ginn for his team-leading 32nd goal of the season. John McCarron registered the lone assist on the second Florida tally of the game.
The Everblades added two insurance goals in the third to go ahead 4-0. First, Dalton Smith took advantage of an unlucky bounce for Atlanta as the puck came out front off a skate where the Oshawa, ON native scored his eighth notch of the season at the 7:37 mark. McCarron followed that up by collecting his 15th goal of the season and second point of the night, 11:27 into the third to conclude the scoring in the game and give Florida the 4-0 win.
After falling in defeat via the Anthony Peters 23 save shutout, the Gladiators dropped to 21-27-6-2 and remained at 50 points. Florida increased their conference and division-lead by improving to 38-12-2-3 while picking up their 81st point on the campaign.
