The Atlanta Gladiators announced Saturday that veteran forward Tyler Murovich has agreed to terms with the organization for the 2016-2017 season.With the announcement, the Gladiators further solidified the team's leadership via Murovich's position as an Alternate Captain. The Pittsburgh, PA native was named to the pivotal role last season, and will continue his alternate captaincy in the upcoming year. "With Murv, you get a consummate professional," said Gladiators Head Coach Andy Brandt. "First and foremost, you notice how he handles himself with class when he's out engaging with people in our community."Murovich, 26, skated in all of the Gladiators 72 games last season, amassing 19 goals and 20 assists for a total of 39 points. . The 5-foot-9, 185-pound forward finished the season ranked third on the team in goals (19) and fifth on the team in both assists (19) and points (39). The 2016-2017 season will mark the fifth year that the forward has played at least part, if not all, of the season with the Gladiators.
"On the ice, and around the rink, he exhibits that same professionalism by how hard he works and how dedicated he is to the game.
"Murv brings guys into the weight room daily and makes sure that they're doing what is needed to be successful. At the same time, he's helping our players understand that achieving that success in the gym equates to success on the ice. Over the course of his career, Murovich has competed in 404 games as a professional in the AHL and ECHL. In 64 career AHL games, Murovich has eight goals and seven assists with the Hamilton Bulldogs, Iowa Wild, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Syracuse Crunch.
