The Atlanta Gladiators announced today that they have acquired forward Chris Auger from the Allen Americans in exchange for defenseman Matt Register. Auger, 28, has collected 33 points in 48 games this season with the Brampton Beast but was acquired by the Allen Americans earlier Thursday to compete an outstanding future considerations deal between the two organizations. Drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2006, the Belleville, Ontario native spent three seasons with the Fort Wayne Komets from 2011 - 2014, amassing 116 points in 129 games played. Prior to turning pro, the 5-foot-11, 178-pound forward enjoyed a four year collegiate career with U-Mass Lowell. In 117 games with the River Hawks, Auger scored 52 points off of 17 goals and 35 assists and earned 38 penalty minutes. Auger spent the 2014-2015 season with the Fife Flyers of the EIHL, scoring 42 points in 41 contests, before returning to the ECHL earlier this season.In 40 games with Atlanta this season, Register had six goals and 21 assists for a total of 27 points and had a plus/minus rating of -6.Auger will not be available for tonight's Gladiators home game against the Florida Everblades, but will join Atlanta tomorrow in time for their match in Charleston against the South Carolina Stingrays.In a separate transaction earlier this week, the Gladiators released goaltender Brad Barone.
