Kent Patterson stopped 31 of the 33 shots he faced in Evansville Saturday night, but it unfortunately wasn’t enough as Justin Buzzeo contributed Atlanta’s lone goal in a 2-1 overtime loss. The IceMen took advantage of having pulled their goaltender late in the 3rd to tie the game at 1-1, eventually earning the second point in the extra period of play. After the first period passed with neither team able to find the back of the net, Justin Buzzeo gave Atlanta a 1-0 lead with 4:43 left in the second frame. The product of Ferris State University scored his ninth goal of the season by tapping a rebound from the top of the crease past the Evansville goaltender, Scott Greenham. Eric Neiley was credited with his ninth helper after taking the original shot, while Brock Higgs notched his 18th with the secondary assist. With just 46.6 seconds remaining in the game, Nathan Moon tied the contest at one for the Icemen. The fifth-year pro tallied his 11th goal of the year after the puck rolled through traffic in front of the net, and landed on his stick. Ryan Penny and Jordan Sims were both credited with an assist on the play.Following 60 minutes of regulation hockey, the teams headed to 3-on-3 overtime tied at one to decide who would come away with the second point. Evansville would close out the game with only 51 seconds left in the extra period on Chris Rumble's ninth of the year. The Virginia native tallied the game winner by knocking in a loose puck in the goal in front of Gladiators goalie Kent Patterson. Nathan Moon notched his second point of the night with an assist, while Daultan Leveille was credited with the secondary assist. With the loss on the road, Atlanta drops to 29-19-5-2, giving them 65 points and placing them in sixth place in the Eastern Conference. After securing the OT win, Evansville improves to 20-25-6-2, good for 48 points and placing them 12th in the Western Conference.
