Murovich, Patterson Selected

The ECHL announced Thursday that Tyler Murovich is the Atlanta Gladiators winner for the 2015-2016 ECHL Fantasy Team along with goaltender Kent Patterson who will participate in the league's Golden Goalie Program. Fans from around the ECHL were recently given the opportunity to vote on ECHL.com for their favorite players from each member club. Murovich won the fan vote to represent the Gladiators, in a tight voting race between captain Derek Nesbitt, Alternate Captain Joe Stejskal, and the sixth-year pro who serves as Atlanta's other Alternate Captain. Murv has amassed 19 points in 33 games this season for the Gladiators. The Pittsburgh native's 10 goals in 33 games is three more than his entire goal total in 14-15 where he posted seven markers in 59 games for Wheeling, Orlando and Atlanta. Murovich recently skated in his 150th game in a Gladiator uniform and is currently ranked 11th all-time in games played for the Glads franchise with 163 games played in the garnet and gold. The veteran forward has long been one of the more popular players on the Gladiators squad, cultivating his fan favorite status by an incredible work ethic on and off the ice as well as his presence in the community. Murovich spends numerous hours in the Gwinnett and Metro-Atlanta area representing the organization in the media, participating in Gladiator charity initiatives, and volunteering with local youth hockey programs. Goaltender Kent Patterson was also selected to participate in the MeiGray Golden Goalie Program representing the Gladiators. The Colorado Avalanche draft pick has registered a record of 10-4-1 with a goal-against average of 2.89 and save percentage of .901 between the pipes for the Gladiators this season. In addition to leading Atlanta in all the important statistical categories, the Minnesota native has won seven of his last eight starts and compiled a perfect record of 7-0 in the month of December. Patterson's 10 wins in just 15 games played is already an ECHL career high in wins for fourth-year pro out of the University of Minnesota. Both Murovich and Patterson will wear a specially-designed jersey at a to-be-determined home game in late January. Both the Fantasy Team Skater and Golden Goalie jerseys will be available for bid through The MeiGray Group. The bidding on the jerseys will be available starting on March 3rd and running through March 24th.
