Atlanta was looking for their third win in a row, and they would find it on Saturday night at home against Orlando. A tight game throughout regulation, the Glads and Solar Bears would head to overtime locked at 1-1. Tyler Murovich would see to it that the Glads would snag the full two points, however, burying the game-winner 1:15 into OT.The Gladiators opened the scoring early in the first period on a rebound goal by Daniel Bahntge. The product of Mercyhurst College netted his fourth tally of the year after Orlando goalie Ryan Massa stopped the original shot by Patrick DAmico. The newly acquired Glad was credited with his first assist for Atlanta on the play, while Tyler Murovich notched his third helper of the year.Orlando tied the game up ten minutes later with a shot from the left circle by Brady Vail that beat Gladiators goaltender Kent Patterson on the near post. The Palm City, Florida native was credited with his ninth goal of the year on a shot that entered the net and quickly exited over Paterson’s shoulder. Johnny McInnis got his eighth assist of the season with a lead pass that landed right on Vails stick.After a back and forth second period and third period that saw both teams get denied on their chances, the game headed to overtime. Just 1:15 into overtime Murovich intercepted an Orlando clearing attempt and wired the puck in past Massa to claim victory for Atlanta. The OT winner was the assistant captain’s sixth goal of the season and second point of the night. The extra point gained in the overtime win now gives Atlanta 27 on the season and improves their record to 13-8-1-0. Orlando drops to 10-8-2-3 but increased their point total to 25 points in the OT loss.
