Despite outshooting the Stingrays 39-27, the Gladiators couldn’t solve goaltender Mark Dekanich tonight, and fell to South Carolina 3-0. The scoring opened early in the contest when Colin Mulvey put South Carolina on the board 6:07 into the first period. The Norwich University product put a rebound past sprawling Gladiators goaltender Kent Patterson to give the Stingrays a 1-0 lead. The tally marked Mulveys third goal of the year, while Brett Cameron received his fourth assist on the year, and Joe Devin notched his team leading eighth helper on the play.South Carolina doubled their lead just before the end of the opening frame when Brett Cameron knocked in his own rebound with only 31 seconds remaining. The second year pro put the visiting team up 2-0 when he redirected a shot from the point by Brendan Ellis into the pad of Kent Patterson, and then smacked in the second chance. Camerons second point on the night marked his fourth goal on the season, with Ellis getting credit for his second assist and Jordan Kwas receiving his seventh on the play. After a scoreless second period, the Stingrays added to their lead halfway through the final frame. Tyler Lewington put a wrist shot over the glove of Patterson as he exited the penalty box and went directly into a two-on-one with Austin Fyten. The rookie scored his first goal of the season on the play and Fyten was credited with his third assist on the tally that put South Carolina ahead 3-0. Up next the Gladiators take on division rival the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Monday November 23rd. The puck drops at 7:05 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville.
