Glads Fall in Florida 6-1

In their second game against the Florida Everblades in as many days, the Gladiators found themselves in a hole they couldnt dig out of, falling by a final score of 6-1.Florida got the games first goal when Kevin Lynch earned his second goal and fourth point in two games vs Atlanta. Floridas captain, Matt Marquardt, found Lynch in the slot where the Grosse Point, MI native lasered the puck into the net past Atlantas starting goalie, Kent Patterson. Brenden ODonnell received credit on the tally that came at the 3:47 mark of period one. The Everblades took a 2-0 lead on Gabriel Desjardins first goal of the season. Desjardins collected a pass on the 2-on-1 rush from Mike Aviani and put the puck into the top shelf of the net. Evan Bloodoff, who started the play by clearing the puck out of the zone, got the secondary assist. Florida Increased their lead to three when Aviani scored his second point of the night and first goal just under 10 minutes into the period. Bloodoff picked up the puck out of a pile on the faceoff and found Aviani in front of the net. Aviani pushed the puck between the legs of Patterson for his first goal of the season. Atlanta cut the lead to two with under a minute to go in the period on a Max Everson tally. Garry Nunn and Thomas Frazee teamed up to win the face-off back to Everson who sent a shot on goal through traffic. The puck found its way past Everblades netminder, Anthony Peters, to give the Harvard product his first career professional goal. Florida regained their three goal lead to start period two, four minutes into the middle frame. Matt Willows skated into the Atlanta zone and blasted a slap shot past Patterson for his first goal of the year. Matt Stanisz and Aviani received the assists on the goal. The helper by Aviani gave him his third point in the game. Ethan Werek added to the Florida lead with his first goal of the season on the powerplay exactly one minute after the fourth Everblades notch. The former Providence Bruin, whistled home a snap shot from the top of the circle past Patterson. Stanisz and Corey Syvret got the helpers on the tally that ended Pattersons night as he was pulled in favor of backup goalie Andy Iles.Werek added a second on the night via a breakaway goal with under a minute left in the second period. The sixth goal of the evening for Florida would stand up as the final goal of the game after the two teams skated to a scoreless third period.
