On Wednesday, September 2nd Gladiators Head Coach Andy Brandt and Derek Nesbitt were guests at The Heritage School in Newnan, GA. With this year’s school speaker series theme being Thinking Beyond, Coach Brandt and Nesbitt addressed faculty and staff along with the 5th through 12th grades during program time. As each expressed their thoughts about the influential teachers and coaches that helped shape their lives; they talked about their challenges and successes as they balanced academics, sports and their pursuit of a professional career. Brandt and Nesbitt encouraged the students to think beyond by stressing the importance of setting goals and seeking out those influential teachers, coaches and individuals whom they think can help them reach their goals. After a brief Q&A, program time ended and the senior class was able to participate in a breakout session with the Gladiator duo. During this time, they were able to expand their comments about how to be accountable and how to transition into college. However, and of course, no Q&A would be complete without an entertaining discussion about fighting in hockey and the two describing some of their more interesting injuries.Photo Courtesy of The Heritage School
