Forward Todd Fiddler and Defenseman Ian Barteaux have agreed to terms with the Gladiators for the 2015-2016 season, the team announced on Tuesday. The rights to Todd Fiddler (along with Defenseman Matt Register) were acquired from the Ontario Reign back in June, completing the Garry Nunn trade deadline deal. Fiddler spent most of the 14-15 season with the Quad City Mallards, scoring 13 goals and 14 assists in 50 games, before being traded to Ontario in early March. The forward enjoyed a successful five year junior career in the WHL, capped off by his scoring 98 points (50G, 48A) in 66 games played during the 2013-2014 season. If you look at Todds numbers from juniors, you can see hes a pure goal scorer, said Gladiators Head Coach Andy Brandt. We believe he has that same ability to contribute offensively in the pro game. Ian Barteaux (pronounced bar-TOE) joins the squad after the Gladiators received his rights from the Fort Wayne Komets, also back in June. The 6-foot defenseman completed five seasons with the University of Alberta Golden Bears, where he won the CIS National Championship in his senior year, before joining the Komets for his rookie campaign last season. Barteaux appeared in 47 games for Fort Wayne, amassing 69 penalty minutes and a +3 plus/minus rating. Barteaux is a big, strong defenseman that plays a mature game, added Brandt. Hes the guy that will play against opponents top lines but also contribute offensively. The Gladiators are set to drop the puck on their 13th season at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in October 2015.
