Joey’s Toy Box Receives Bears

For the second season in a row, Gladiators Majority Owner Toby Jeffreys recently delivered bags of stuffed critters to our friends at Joey’s Toy Box. Located in Newnan, where Toby resides, JTB made contact with Jim Hall, the Gladiators Director of Community Relations, two seasons ago for an event they were planning. Jim spoke with Kim Doolittle, founder of Joeys Toy Box (and mom to Joey) to coordinate the contribution from the team and also thought to mention our Teddy Bear Toss program. Kim was thrilled to benefit from our fans generosity and the rest, they say, is history!! A little bit about Joeys Toy Box...Joeys Toy Box provides support for the Child Life programs at the Aflac Childrens Cancer Centers and the Childrens Healthcare Of Atlanta. The Child Life programs help children get through their medical treatments and procedures, which are often extremely intense for the kids. The medical procedures that these brave kids endure - sometimes on a daily basis include chemotherapy, radiation, blood transfusions, and various other surgical procedures. If a child has had a particularly rough experience, he/she can go to the toy closet and pick out a special toy or stuffed animal to take home. However, the Child Life Programs do have a limited budget and rely mainly on donations the they receive during the holidays. This is where Joey wanted to step in. Being a lifelong cancer patient himself, he knew how important the toys were during his incredibly harsh treatments. He definitely did not want the cancer centers and hospitals to ever run out of toys for the other kids. The Gladiators would like to thank Joeys Toy Box for helping to donate some of the many stuffed animals we gathered this season! We applaud their efforts on behalf of Aflac Childrens Cancer Centers and the Childrens Healthcare Of Atlanta, as well as Scottish Rite Childrens Hospital Atlanta, Egleston Childrens Hospital Atlanta, and Hughes Spalding Childrens Hospital Atlanta, said Jim Hall. Thanks, as always, to Gladiators Nation for their amazing support of the community programs the Glads participate in. Your countless donations of stuffed animals season after season at our annual Teddy Bear Toss Night then allows us to make our way around the Metro Atlanta area leaving a ton of smiling little faces in our wake.
